This November, Children’s Legal Centre Wales will proudly launch a ground-breaking suite of legal education resources designed to help children and young people across Wales better understand their rights, the law, and the systems that shape their lives.

Developed through our Knowledge is Power project, these free resources have been created with and for young people, bringing legal issues to life through engaging lesson plans, classroom activities, videos, presentations and interactive learning materials. Covering topics that directly affect children and young people, the resources are designed to support schools, educators and youth organisations in developing legal literacy across Wales.

Legal literacy is about more than understanding rules. It is about empowering young people with the knowledge and confidence to recognise their rights, make informed decisions, access support when they need it and participate fully in society.

A National Celebration

To mark the launch, we are hosting two celebratory events bringing together young people, schools, policymakers, legal professionals, academics and third sector organisations from across Wales.

The first event will take place in South Wales on 18 November 2026, hosted in partnership with Swansea University School of Law and Swansea Law Clinic. A mirror event will follow in Bangor on 26 November 2026, delivered alongside our partners at Bangor University, ensuring young people from both North and South Wales can be part of this important milestone.

Both events will showcase the resources, provide opportunities for young people to participate in interactive legal education sessions, and create a platform for discussion about the future of legal education in Wales.

Young People at the Heart of the Launch

Just as young people have been central to the creation of the resources, they will also take centre stage during the launch event itself.

We are delighted that students from Bryntawe School will host the South Wales event, guiding attendees through the day and helping to share why legal education matters to young people.

One of the student hosts said:

“Young people need to know their rights and understand how the law affects their lives. These resources make legal topics easier to understand and more interesting to learn about. We’re proud to be part of an event that helps other young people across Wales gain that knowledge.”

Their involvement reflects one of the core principles of the project: meaningful participation. Young people have not simply been consulted; they have helped shape the resources and the conversations surrounding them.

Working Together to Create Lasting Change

The Knowledge is Power project demonstrates what can be achieved when organisations from different sectors come together around a shared vision.

Children’s Legal Centre Wales would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who has contributed to the development of these resources, including our university partners, schools, young people, legal professionals, academics and creative collaborators.

We are particularly grateful to Promo Cymru, whose expertise has supported the co-production and development of the project’s video content, helping bring the voices and experiences of young people to life.

Thank You to Our Sponsors and Funders

This ambitious project and its launch events would not have been possible without the support of our funders and sponsors.

We would like to thank:

  • Paul Hamlyn Foundation
  • Blake Morgan
  • Robertsons Solicitors
  • Cypright Ltd

Their commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people in Wales has helped turn this vision into reality.

Join Us

These launch events are not simply about unveiling educational resources. They are about starting a national conversation about the importance of legal literacy and ensuring every child in Wales has access to the knowledge they need to understand and exercise their rights.

As we launch these resources, we look forward to working with schools, policymakers, legal professionals and young people across Wales to build a future where legal education is accessible, engaging and embedded in the lives of all children and young people.

Because knowledge is power, and every child deserves access to it.
