Child Poverty

On 15th November 2023, the Children’s Legal Centre Wales and the Observatory on Human Rights of Children organised a Child Poverty Summit at Swansea Guildhall, in collaboration with Children in Wales and the Children’s Commissioner for Wales.

Child Poverty Summit Report (Final)

Proceedings during the Summit paid close attention to how children’s rights under the UNCRC are affected by child poverty, and how a Children’s Rights Approach might address some of the challenges identified.

Participants also heard from Professor Geraldine Van Bueren KC, again via a recorded video in which she speaks about opportunities to address child poverty through existing policy and legal frameworks.
